We once had this roommate, all 6'​7"​ 300 lbs of him, who went on a binge the week Heath Ledger died. The culmination was when I saw him trying to light the wrong end of cigarette and swaying badly doing it, on the back porch. Shortly after that, I got a text from my other roomie that the drunken giant had passed out in the kitchen. We kicked him out the next day.

We used to have a roommate who smoked on the back porch which was fine, but he never emptied the ashtray. One night he put out his cigarette in the overflowing ashtray, and then decided to "​clean up"​ so he emptied the ashtray into a Doritos bag, and put that into the small trash barrel. An hour and a half later, at about 1am, (I was in the living at the time) I smelled burning trash. When I checked the back porch the entire trash barrel was on fire, and the flames were about 3 feet high! After I woke up the whole house and confronted everyone, he actually admitted it! I wanted to kick him out, but I was overruled and he stayed. But he stopped smoking in the house after that!

I'​m allergic to pot smoke (I seriously am;​ I trip bad and get physically sick), and two of my roommates are straight edge, plus two of us get drug tested regularly for work. We'​ve asked our roommate on countless occasions not to smoke it in our house. She still does it and pretends it'​s incense. We also pay all the utilities, and she also turns the heat all the way up and wears tank tops, does 3 loads of laundry A WEEK, and turns lights on in broad daylight as soon as she enters a room, and leaves them on. She never does her dishes either, and pretend that they'​re not hers.

My room mate is a full on pokemon nerd. Not in the ironic comedic way, but obsesses over the games.

To make an incredibly long story short, my two VERY redneck roommates got into a massive drunken fight, the culmination being the dude on our roof with his beer yelling at his girlfriend across the street. She then ran home and stole the ladder from him. The sad thing is, I'​ve gotten used to stuff like this. :-/

One of our roommates leaves his dirty socks and underwear in the common room, so we'​ve been throwing them out. The thing that confuses us is that we think he'​s been going out buying more and more socks and underwear because the habit of leaving them in the common room hasn'​t stopped.

Nothing is worse than walking in on your roommate and your ex going at it on your couch that you supplied to the apartment. Wait, scratch that. The only thing that could be worse is being asked to move out by May because they want to play house together. I'​m not quite sure if I want to take the couch with me.

My roomie is planning an orgy in our apartment this weekend and didn'​t ask me. When confronting her, she said that it would be okay because everyone can clean at the same time and I'​ll hardly know they were in there. It'​s happening in the living room and kitchen.

My roomie is biting his toenails because I wouldn'​t let him use my toenail clipper.

My roomie'​s parents got in a fight and his dad has been crashing on our couch for the past 3 weeks. He'​s a cool guy except when he starts talking about all the "​crazy stuff"​ he did in college, which amounted to premarital sex and staying out until 2am drinking...

In high school, we had a field trip to historic Boston, where guys had to quadruple up in rooms(2 to a bed). That was fine, but the person I got randomly roomed with was dating a girl on the trip, and after an hour of begging, I said I was okay with her staying in the bed too. Turns out that they got freaky in the middle of the night and I was too embarrassed to say anything so I pretended to be asleep for 3 hours...

Me and my girlfriend rented an apartment with a guy that was a really good fiend. After being moved in for a few months he decided it was appropriate to use the bathroom while I was showering. I pulled open the shower curtain to almost have a heart attack while all he can say is "​nice"​ and grin at me. I'​m scared to shower in my own apartment.

We lived in a house of 5 people. We all decided that we wanted to chip in for a gaming console for the common room. We ended up buying a 360 since one guy insisted it was the only system worth buying. The rest of us wanted a PS3 for blueray. We gave in to his demand and in less than a month, this guy thinks he can mod the 360. He ended up destroying the system and expected us to all chip in for another 360. He has no intention of paying us back for what we chipped in...

The reason why we always get bad roommates is because intelligent people stick with a roommate that they can live with because it'​s a safety net. I lived with someone for an entire semester that did not shower once. He didn'​t even have a towel!
